The ricasso is marked on one side EMERSON & SILVER, TRENTON N. J. while the opposite side is marked US with inspectors initials of D. F. M. above the date 1863. Standard cast brass hilt with ribbed grip, round pommel cap and thin knuckle bow ending in a quillon. Knuckle bow is stamped with the same inspectors initials of D. F. M.
