This is a nice fully functional example of a British "Ditching Whistle", worn by Royal Air Force bomber and fighter aircrew in WWII for use when downed. This is the classic snail style whistle often seen hanging from the 1941 pattern Mae West or aircrew blouse. One side is marked with the British Air Ministry stamp, and the "King's Crown", indicating WWII Era use during the reign of King George VI: A. M. (King's
