HMCS Iroquois was originally laid down as HMCS Athabaskan
arriving there on the 4th and was awarded the UNFICYP Medal on November 2nd
the Army of Occupation Medal with "Japan" clasp
Cottle was transferred to and taken on strength by the 40th Canadian Reserve Battalion on July 6
the obverse presents with a circular applique bearing a static black enameled swastika within a gilded ring inscribed “Der Deutschen Mutter” (The German Mother)

Instituted 1883 by Grand Duchess Luise. (1883 1915 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original neck ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross, the obverse with raised borders, the reverse with a silver content mark of 800 and a mark of L. B. for an unidentified maker, measuring 48. 28 mm (w) x 72. 35 mm (h), weighing 21. 9 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
