The original (Type I) badge was instituted in April 1944 and fabricated in the Soviet Union

complemented by the circular Swastika insignia in the centre on both sides

Footnote: The Order of Nichan al Anouar (Arabic: Order of the Light) was established in 1887 as a colonial order of merit of the Tajurah sultanate in French Somaliland.
