We received this out of an old attic collection, along with about 100 other swords. This is the standard Union Officer's Dress or Parade Sword Model 1860, issued during the Civil War. This example does not have any makers mark, which usually indicates that it was custom made for the officer. This example also looks to have been shortened, and the point of the blade has been rounded off, possibly for training use. It has a
