Instituted 15 September 1884 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV. (1884 1918 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with red enameled arms demonstrating a rich hatching, the obverse overlaid by a central medallion bearing a raised Mecklenburg royal Griffin, situated within a circular ring, the twelve oclock arm topped by a pebbled fan perforated with a
